HICKS HAS BIG RETURN AS THE 49ERS DEFEAT THE RAMS

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maurice Hicks, San Francisco 49ers running back, opened the second half of Sunday’s game versus St. Louis with a 59-yard kickoff return to help propel the 49ers (1-1) to a 20-13 victory over the Rams (1-1).

Hicks’ return would set up a 32-yard touchdown run by Frank Gore to tie the game early in the third quarter. For the day, Hicks recorded two returns for 78 yards while averaging 39.0 yards per return. Currently Hicks is the third leading kickoff returner in the NFL with 229 yards on eight returns and a 28.6 average.

The 49ers will face the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) next Sunday at home. Kickoff time is set for 1:15 p.m. (PST).
